BOISE, Idaho (September 13, 2010)—Saint Alphonsus Health System announced today that Mercy Medical Center, Nampa, Idaho; Holy Rosary Medical Center, Ontario, Oregon; and St. Elizabeth Health Services, Baker City, Oregon will undergo a name change on Wednesday, September 15, to unify the new four-hospital Health System and strengthen awareness of System health services across the region. Saint Alphonsus Health System also includes Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, Boise. The Health System was formed April 1, 2010.
Mercy Medical Center will become Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Nampa; Mercy North will become Saint Alphonsus Nampa Health Plaza; Holy Rosary Medical Center will become Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Ontario; St. Elizabeth Health Services will become Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Baker City. Primary care and specialty physicians affiliated with each hospital will change practice names to unify physicians and providers within Saint Alphonsus Medical Group.
Sally Jeffcoat, Saint Alphonsus Health System President & CEO, said, "While
the names of these three hospitals will change to unify and strengthen recognition
of our new Health System, we will continue to honor the heritage, history,
and the Sisters who founded each hospital in a variety of ways."
Since April 1, the four System hospitals and Saint Alphonsus Medical Group
have been involved in integration activities to create an efficient, integrated
health care delivery system in fulfillment of our Mission to deliver high quality,
coordinated, patient centered care that strives to improve the health of people
in each community and keep health care services strong locally.
Jeffcoat said, "Our Vision for Saint Alphonsus Health System is grounded in our community-based Mission to improve the health of our communities by providing citizens with a cohesive and interlocking network of care giving and health promotion that spans from birth through the end of life. We will provide local services unlike any other provider, with local investments in physicians, people, technology, clinic facilities, hospitals, and clinical programs. Saint Alphonsus Health System has invested in and will continue to invest in hospitals and ambulatory services that are right for each local community, with the goal of keeping patients and families in their own community to receive health care. System coordination, and implementing an Electronic Health Record, will provide an expansion of accessible health services and continuous improvements in quality of care and patient safety."
Saint Alphonsus Health System will invest in excess of $40 million in the next five years to advance health care services in Baker City, Ontario, and Nampa.
Jeffcoat added, "Because of our special skill in treating the most critically ill and critically injured people, Saint Alphonsus Health System will be known and respected throughout our region for seamlessly delivering care of the highest quality standards. We will be attentive to the whole person – body, mind, and spirit – no matter where you enter our System or what your health problem."
